Enriched Dough Baking Course

Is there anything better than fresh crusty artisan style breads? Sweet and buttery enriched dough! Classic brioche, chocolate babka, challah, cinnamon buns, etc. all fall into this beautiful class of leavened doughs. Join us for an educational and fun experience!

In our enriched dough baking course/workshop, we cover the fundamentals of enriched dough baking. By the end of the workshop, you will have all the knowledge necessary to make quality classic enriched dough variations with an artisan twist.

On the course we will cover:

– Different types of enriched doughs
– Ingredients and how they impact the process
– Master recipes and the baker’s formula
– Shaping techniques

Our enriched dough workshops are a full-day and you can choose to attend on any of our available dates below. We currently run the courses in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The workshop will include hands-on practical teaching (prepare to get your hands messy!) where you will get to make your own enriched dough products from scratch. We also include tea, coffee and a light lunch.

On the course we will bake the following:

– Master Brioche
– Chocolate Babka
– Cinnamon Buns
– Beignets

Note: When baking at home, enriched doughs requires a mixing machine with a dough hook to prepare the dough.

(Dominique and I have been running our monthly artisan bread baking workshops since 2015. Together we’ve taught over 1000 people how to bake amazing bread at home! Authentic bread baking is our passion, and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.)

Time: 09:00 – 14:30

Johannesburg Venue: Our home bakery at 90 Phantom Street, Raceview, Alberton.
Cape Town Venue: 34 Children’s Way, Bergvliet, Cape Town.

Our Enriched Dough Baking course will be run mostly on week days or some Saturdays/Sundays (see below for dates). New dates are scheduled every few months.

We also run Classic Artisan Bread, Sourdough Bread and Gluten-Free baking courses

Price: R1000 per person

We also offer private team building courses that can be arranged on a weekday.

– We require at least a 50% deposit to secure your spot. The remainder needs to be paid at least 1 week before the course date.
